The invention relates to a device (50) for retaining and protecting damaged bones (1). Said device has two sections (10, 11) which can be fixated at the bone (1) on both sides of the damaged bone (2). Said sections are linked with each other via at least one spring device (20) in such a manner that they can be elastically displaced in an axial relation to each other. The device is further provided with means for varying the spring rate.
