PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication unit that where voice communication can be conducted to be connected to a terminal supporting only standard voice communication without losing quality of voice communication and voice/non- voice communication is conducted simultaneously on request from he data terminal or the user. SOLUTION: The data communication unit 101 is provided with a line interface processing section 103 that is connected to a digital wired line including one digital transmission line or over to control the digital line, non-voice data input output section 111, 112 being data terminal interface section to input/output non-voice data to/from the data terminal, and voice input/output sections 109, 110 that conduct voice input/output. Then a control section 102 sets attribute of communication in voice in the case of simultaneous communication of voice/ non-voice data and controls setting of simultaneous communication of voice/non- voice data after negotiation in the voice communication.
