PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the proper answering in both cases where a human being and an automatic FAX transmitter call respectively by reproducing a voice guidance for the human being and then transmitting a FAX called station identification signal (CED) within an answer time range of the opposite party FAX of a FAX protocol. SOLUTION: An automatic FAX answering device includes a system control part 11, a communication control part 12, a memory part 13, a voice guidance reproduction part 14 and a tone signal transmitting part 15. The part 11 reproduces the voice guidance for a human being and then transmits a FAX called station identification signal within an answering time range of the opposite party FAX of a FAX protocol. In other words, in this system the control part 11 reproduces the voice guidance stored in the memory part 13 at the reproduction part 14 in response to an incoming request given from the control part 12 and then a called station identification signal (CED) is transmitted via the transmitting part 15.
