PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely avoid destruction of areas other than a compressed data storage area and to transfer the compressed data to a compression data storage area without any further compression processing to degrade image quality such as data thin-out processing when the compressed data can be stored in the compression data storage area. SOLUTION: In the case that a storage area of a prescribed size cannot be reserved in a compression data storage area of a RAM 102, compressed data are not transferred to the compression data storage area but transferred to an external storage device 113. A CPU 106 detects a size of compressed data from the data transferred to the external storage device 113 to discriminate whether or not the compressed data can be stored in the compression data storage area, and the external storage device 113 transfers the compressed data to the compression data storage area when the compressed data can be stored in the compression data storage area.
