CREDIT CARD AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable on-line authentication even outside the public radio communication network area of a packet communication system. SOLUTION: In the credit card authentication system which connects many portable credit card authentication terminals(CAT) 1 to a central data processing center 4 by public radio communication networks 2a and 3a of the packet communication system and allows the host computer of each credit card company 6 to access the central data processing center 4 on-line so that an on-line authenticating process can be done on a CAT 1, the CAT 1 having moved out of the public communication networks 2a and 3a of the packet communication system is connected to the central data processing center 5 by public radio data communication networks 2b and 3b of a line communication system.
