PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance symbol timing detection accuracy, frequency offset detection accuracy and transmission line estimate accuracy without almost decreasing a transmission efficiency in OFDM communication. SOLUTION: A control signal C is applied to a changeover switch 105 to apply changeover control thereto so as to set a guard period preceding to a message differently in length from a guard period preceding to a pilot symbol, and a control signal B is given to a changeover switch 104, which receives changeover control to insert a signal corresponding to respective guard periods to a transmission signal.
