PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the transmission system for the detection signal of forward voltage and the transmission system for the detection signal of reverse voltage common. SOLUTION: This applied voltage detector rectifies the full waves of the AC signal applied to a thyristor element 1 with a rectifier 8 and lights a light emitting diode 4, and outputs this optical signal to voltage direction judging circuits 9 and 19 through a light guide 6 and a photoelectric converter 7. Moreover, this outputs the optical signal of light emitting diodes 14 and 24 which emit light when forward voltage is applied to thyristors 11 and 21 to the voltage direction judging circuits 9 and 19 through the light guides 16 and 26 and photoelectric converters 17 and 27. When the logics of the output of the photoelectric converters 7, 17, and 27 are all '1', this outputs a forward voltage signal from the voltage direction judging circuit 9, and when the signal of '1' is outputted from the photoelectric converter 7 and the signal of '0' is outputted from the photoelectric converters 17 and 27, this outputs a reverse voltage signal from the voltage direction judging circuit 19.
