<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image coding decoding method adopting the variable length coding system where coding is cancelled without causing image quality deterioration. SOLUTION: In the process of Huffman coding, an in-block Huffman code quantity (block code quantity) is counted and when the block code quantity exceeds a preset code quantity, a cancellation instruction is asserted to forcibly cancel Huffman coding processing and an end of block code EOBt is set to an end of block code data. In the process of Huffman decoding, cancellation f coding is detected by finding out the EOBt in a data stream. Since a high frequency component is lost in a pixel block where coding s cancelled, prescribed compensation processing is applied to recover an unsharpened edge.</p> |
