PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally set the capacity of respective storage areas by providing a setting means setting the sizes of the plural storage areas. SOLUTION: A DRAM 13 stores picture data of an original read by a scanner part 23 and outputted from a read processing part 12 or an original received through a modem 16 by facsimile communication. The DRAM 13 is provided with the storing capacity of 16 Mbit as a whole, 1 Mbit among them is assigned to a system memory and the other 15 Mbit is properly assigned to a picture memory or a page memory according to the ON/OFF, etc., of a memory save function. Namely, a facsimile equipment as this picture processor is provided with a function setting the capacity of the picture memory and the page memory respectively assigned in the DRAM 13 storing picture data in addition to a general facsimile communicating function.
