SOLUTION: An input signal of an unknown system is subject to sub-band split processing to generate a plurality of sub band reference signals, a plurality of the sub band reference signals are given to a plurality of independent sub band adaptive filters 21-23, an output signal of the unknown system is subject to sub band split processing to generate a plurality of sub band object signals, a difference between a plurality of the sub band object signals and output signals of the sub band adaptive filters is outputted as a sub band error signal, which is used to update a filter coefficient of a sub band adaptive filter, and each adaptive algorithm used to update the filter coefficient of the sub band adaptive filter is selected and its tap length is calculated, it is converted into a control signal, which is fed to each sub band adaptive filter.
