The method includes a first step (1) of estimation of the Doppler frequency of the target, and a detection step (3) of the target if the size (Z) is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold (S) using an algorithm including a Cohen transform core which is a function of radar ambiguity, and an estimated Doppler frequency. There is a tracking step (2) after the first step on the M turns for determining the resolution cells where it locates the target during the M turns.
