摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical head device for proximity field light which is small in size and light in weight and with which the degree of freedom on the designing of an optical system is high and loss of light is low. SOLUTION: This optical head device is provided with a high refractive index medium 12 consisting of the incident plane 12a of a light, an internal reflection surface 12b and a light-emitting surface 12c. The light radiated from a light source 15 is made incident on the refractive index medium 12 from the incident plane 12a and it is reflected only one time on the reflection surface 12b to be converged on the light-emitting surface 12c and it oozes out from the light-emitting surface 12c as a proximity field light. Then, the gap between the recording layer 3 of a recording medium 1 and the light-emitting surface 12c is set to be equal to or smaller than the fourth of the wavelength of the light and the recording layer 3 is irradiated with the oozed-out proximity field light N to form a recorded pit 3a.
