PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To magnify/reduce an image at higher speed with a simple method without deteriorating the image quality of the image. SOLUTION: An MPU 11 converts a denominator (n) of a magnification m/n into a value (k) being the power of '2' that is a minimum number and larger than number of pixels before conversion. The MPU 11 calculates a numerator (m) corresponding to the value (k) being the power of '2' on the basis of a percentage X[%] entered by the user. Thus, in the case of magnifying/ reducing the read image, a weight obtained on the basis of an addition/ subtraction of the calculated numerator (m) and denominator (n) that is the value (k) being the power of '2' is multiplied respectively by density of pixels adjacent to each other before the conversion and the products are summed, and the sum is divided by the denominator (n) that is the value (k) being the power of '2', that is, the sum is having only to be shifted to the left by k-bits. Thus, the image can be magnified/reduced with a simple method at higher speed without deteriorating the image quality of the image. |
