PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the frequency of failures which are due to unbalanced control for improvement in a highly reliable power factor with a simple and inexpensive structure, when the input capacity of a capacitor having two banks of individual operation and combined operation is controlled for improvement in the power factor. SOLUTION: This controller 24, which connects the respective phase advance capacitors 18a, 18b of capacitors 14, 15 of the first and second banks #1, #2 to a secondary buses 7, 10 selectively, and controls the input capacities of the capacitors 14, 15 respectively, is provided with a means for computing the reactive power of the banks #1, #2, a means for comparing the unit reactive power of the banks #1, #2 obtained by dividing both reactive powers by the capacities of transformers 3, 4, and a means for step-increasing/reducing alternately for equalization of the input capacities of the capacitors 14, 15, when the unit reactive power of the banks #1, #2 are equal to each other, and step increasing/reducing for control of the input capacity of the capacitor of only one bank when the unit reactive power of either of the bank #1 or #2 is larger than the other unit reactive power. |
