PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a suspension holding mechanism capable of contributing to the prevention of the twist of the suspension for holding a head. SOLUTION: The suspension 22 is connected to the free end of a carriage arm 20. The magnetic head 17 confronted with a magnetic disk 16 is mounted on a tip of the suspension 22. A push-up member 31 held in parallel to the disk surface is brought into contact with the suspension 22 from the disk surface side. The push-up member 31 is moved toward the tip of the suspension 22 while bringing into contact with the suspension 22. As the result, the warp is generated on the suspension 22, and the magnetic head 17 at the tip of the suspension 22 is kept away from the disk surface. By adjusting the gradient direction of the suspension 22 and the direction of the push-up member 31, the twist of the suspension 22 is evaluated.
