PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the system which is easy for not only a beginner, but also an expert to use and enables the user to register synonyms without spoiling information sharing over a network. SOLUTION: The synonym registration management system is equipped with a synonym data base 2 wherein key words and synonyms corresponding thereto are collected, a synonym registering means 3 which registers the synonyms in the data base 2, and a synonym extracting means 5 which extracts synonyms; and the synonym data base 2 is stored with identification levels as information limiting ranges of synonyms, the synonym registering means 3 has a function 4 for imparting an identification level to a synonym to be registered, and the synonym extracting means 5 has a function 6 for comparing and deciding the identification level given to the synonym and an identification level determined according to the state of information retrieval and extracts limited synonyms by using the result of the comparison decision making.
