PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system and a peripheral equipment device and its initialization method and device for transmitting the initialization information of the peripheral equipment device from a host computer which manages the peripheral equipment device on the other LAN to newly added peripheral equipment device, and allowing the peripheral equipment device to perform initialization even when any host computer which manages the peripheral equipment device is not present on the same LAN. SOLUTION: A host computer 200 is retrieved for obtaining the setting information of a printing device 100 from a host computer 200, and whether or not any host computer 200 which responds to this retrieval is present is judged. When it is judged that any host computer 200 which responds to the retrieval is not present, the issue of a request for the retrieval of the host computer 200 is communicated to the registered host computer 200 instead of the printing device 100 which issues the request for the retrieval of the host computer 200.
