HOLOGRAM DISPLAY DEVICE WITH ILLUMINATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To observe a clear and bright reproduced image under any environment by integrally providing an illuminator in which illuminating light can be made incident at a specified angle with a volume hologram. SOLUTION: This device is constituted of a reflection type volume hologram 10 to which an image is recorded, a light transmission plate 12 arranged ahead of the hologram 10 and a light source 13 arranged in front of the side surface of the plate 12; the plate 12 guides illuminating light 18 from the light source 13 inside the plate 12 by total reflection, and also emits the light guided by a microprism 16 provided on one surface 15 from the surface of the plate 12 as the illuminating light 19 at a specified emitting angle; and the light 19 emitted from the plate 12 illuminates the hologram 10 and diffracted light 20 diffracted from the hologram 10 can be observed through the plate 12.
