PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect that an object enters within a photographing range. SOLUTION: An edge extracting part extracts the high frequency components (edge) 5 of a photographing image OIM and creates an edge image EIM. A density calculating part calculates the distribution density of the high frequency component 5 and judges the existence of the object 2 based on whether the density is more than a fixed value or not. Besides, the high frequency components of the photographing image are projected on the horizontal axis or the vertical axis of the image, the high frequency components projected on the same point of the axis are accumulated to create the projected image PIM and the existence of the object is judged based on the density of the projected image.
