<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hierarchical moving picture evaluation device where number of times of coding, number of times of communication and a scale of decoding processing in the case of evaluating a hierarchical moving picture code can be reduced and that evaluates image quality when a hierarchical moving picture repeater transmits a hierarchical stream with a reduced hierarchical number. SOLUTION: When a moving picture code transmission section 40 transmits a hierarchical moving picture code hierarchically processed depending on resolution to a moving picture code reception section 60 via a transmission line 20, the hierarchical moving picture code is received by a hierarchical moving picture evaluation device 110. A hierarchical separate section 111 reconfigures a received hierarchical moving picture code for each layer and gives each moving picture stream of layers A-C to decoding sections 112a-112c. The decoding sections decode the received moving picture stream to obtain each picture of the layers A-C and give the result to evaluation sections 113a-113c. The evaluation sections calculate the image quality evaluation value of the received picture and feed back the result to the moving picture code transmission section 40. The moving picture code transmission section 40 properly selects a coding mode and a coding parameter of the hierarchical moving picture code to be sent on the basis of the received image quality evaluation value.</p> |
