PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable nonaqueous secondary battery for restricting the temperature rise of the battery by controlling heat generated in the battery when short-circuited hardly causing abnormal temperature rise of the battery. SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode using a transition metal composite oxide containing lithium such as LiCoO2, LiNiO2 or the like used at a voltage of 3 V or more after charged as a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode using either metal lithium, lithium alloy or lithium compound or graphite capable of storing and releasing lithium as a negative electrode material and a nonaqueous electrolyte wherein electrolyte salt is dissolved in nonaqueous solvent. The potentials of the positive electrode and the negative electrode are regulated so that the potential of the negative electrode can be kept at 1.5 V or lower in reference to a lithium potential when the battery is subjected to short-circuiting. |
