PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin packaging machine which is constituted in such a way that the machine can easily confirm that unsuitable packaging paper is set and a suitable packaging paper when the unsuitable packaging paper is set and, in addition, can easily perform packaging paper exchanging work. SOLUTION: A coin packaging machine 1 compares the width value of the packaging paper 14 detected by means of a paper width detecting means with the width value of recommendable paper by means of a comparing means at a prescribed point of time before starting the packaging of coins and, when the calculated width value does not exceed the permitted limit of the width value of the recommendable paper, the machine discriminates that the paper 14 is suitable and conducts the succeeding work. When the calculated width value exceeds the permitted limit, the machine discriminates that the paper 14 is unsuitable and displays the discriminated result and the width value of the recommendable paper on a displaying means. At the same time, the machine makes the paper 14 pinched by means of a paper feeding and ejecting means to be ejected automatically or manually.
