PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain communication between different protocols of a 1st computer adopting a full duplex communication system and a 2nd computer adopting a half duplex communication system by absorbing standards for synchronous automatic call transmission reception with a 3rd computer and a controller. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a 1st computer 2 adopting a full duplex communication system, a 1st asynchronous modem 4, a 2nd computer 6 adopting a half duplex communication system, a 2nd asynchronous modem 8, a telephone network 8 that interconnects the 1st and 2nd asynchronous modems 4, 8, a 3rd computer 12 that is placed between the 2nd computer 6 and the 2nd asynchronous modem 8, has a piece of protocol conversion software mounted and applies a PPP connection to the 1st computer 2, and a controller 14 that receives a dial command in the case of automatic dialing, transmits the command to the 3rd computer 12 to bring it into a dialing state, attains communication between the 1st and 2nd computers when the PPP connection is successful, and conducts a similar operation to the synchronous modem when the PPP connection fails.
