PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable magnetic storage device having a high S/N ratio at a recording density of 6 giga bits or more per square inch. SOLUTION: An in-surface coercive force measured in the magnetic head traveling direction of a magnetic recording medium is set to >=3.0 kOe, the fluctuation field of magnetic viscosity at 25 deg.C in a magnetic strength equal to the remanence coercive force or the coercive force of the magnetic recording medium is set to >=400e, and when an abscissa indicates an opposite erasing current and an ordinate indicates a reverse DC erasing noise, a peak shape asymmetryγ=(PW1-PW2)/PW50 (here, PW50 represents a peak half value width, PW1 and PW2 left and right unbalance value: PW50=PW1+PW2) is set to >=-0.3 to <=0.3.
