PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unburnt matters being fused and liquefied in a primary combustion chamber from dripping into a secondary chamber by arranging fire grates vertically in a plurality of stages, forming at least the fire grate on the lower stage side through combination of concave grating elements opening upward and providing an air gap between adjacent concave grating elements. SOLUTION: Inside of a furnace is partitioned vertically into upper primary combustion chamber 2 and lower secondary combustion chamber 3 through a fire grate group 1 comprising a first fire grate 1A on the upper stage side, a second fire grate 1B comprising a reverse V-shaped convex grating elements at the middle stage, and a third fire grate 1C comprising concave grating elements opening upward on the lower stage. An air gap 1E is provided, respectively, between adjacent reverse V-shaped grating elements and between V-shaped grating elements of the second and third fire grates 1B, 1C. The air gap 1E serves as a passage for hot gas from the secondary combustion chamber 3.
