PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal where a copy function and a communication function are simultaneously set and which of copy image quality or communication image quality takes precedence is set. SOLUTION: In this communication terminal, in the case that both a copy key 4 and a FAX key 5 are set and a priority selection key 6 designates priority of image quality, a read section 8 reads a picture with image quality optimum to copying, a recording section 14 outputs a copy and transmits the read picture as facsimile data via a MODEM 16 and an NCU 15. When the priority selection key 6 designates priority of facsimile transmission picture quality, the read section 8 reads the picture with image quality optimum to facsimile transmission, and the recording section 14 transmits the read picture as facsimile data via the MODEM 16 and the NCU 15, and the recording section 14 outputs a copy with the contents of facsimile data. The user can designate which of copy image quality or communication image quality takes precedence.
