PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AGC amplifier whose gain follows a change in a transmission line but suffers no changes by the contents of a transmitted signal. SOLUTION: An amplitude information detector 3 and a variable gain device 4 detecting information relating to a signal amplitude control the amplitude of a signal fed to a control voltage detector 5 to be constant independently of contents of the signal, thereby making the gain of a variable gain amplifier 2 constant. Thus, even in the case of as signal not including a maximum amplitude, AGC is correctly applied to the signal and the signal can correctly be demodulated.
