PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optionally set whether or not rotation processing is to be conducted and to utilize a function of automatic rotation processing even when specific recording paper is designated. SOLUTION: In the case that a rotation designation key 4 of an operation section 3 sets rotation inhibition, a picture is copied without rotation. In the case that the rotation designation key 4 sets forced rotation, a 90-degree rotation processing circuit 12 rotates a picture of an original read by a read section 7 and a recording section 9 copies the rotated picture onto recording paper. In the case that the setting is made as to whether or not a picture is to be rotated is automatically discriminated, even when a paper size key 5 sets a size of recording paper and a magnification setting key 6 sets a magnification, if a direction of the recording paper differs from that of the original, rotation processing is applied to the picture and the recording section 9 records the picture onto recording paper of a designated size.
