PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set where power consumption of a battery can be reduced while ensuring visibility at night or the like and a waiting time and a speech time can be extended. SOLUTION: In the portable telephone set having a display section 1 and a key entry section 2, at least numerals 7 or a character string, a picture and a symbol 8 on the key entry section 2 are displayed by using a fluorescent material. The user operates portable telephone set at a daytime by observing the numeral 7 or the like of the key entry section 2 and the user operates portable telephone set at night or at a dark place at a daytime by observing the numeral 7 or the like of the key entry section 2 that can be recognized by the fluorescent material.
