PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the encoding method, signal processing circuit, and storage device which can reduce the error occurrence rate at the time of reproduction. SOLUTION: The signal processing circuit 1000 is equipped with an encoder 1100 which encodes inputted data and a PR4 precoder 1200 which performs PR4 precoding of a code sequence encoded by the encoder 1100. The PR4 precoder 1200 performs the PR4 precoding after inserting one specific bit into the code sequence inputted from the encoder 1100 when the input code sequence includes a partial code composed of '0, 1, 1, 0'.
