PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow another port to receive print data without increasing the frequency of outputting a BUSY signal even when one port receives mass print data in a printer provided with respective receiving buffers for plural ports. SOLUTION: This printer is provided with DMA transferring means 33b and 34b which transmit print data received by each receiving port to a corresponding receiving buffer the number of prescribed bytes, a setting means 35 which sets one between plural receiving ports as a master port and the other receiving port as a slave port and a controlling means 35 which transfers the print data to a corresponding receiving buffer with the number of prescribed bytes at a time by a corresponding data transferring means when the print data are received by the receiving port set as the master port by the setting means 35 and transfers it to a corresponding receiving buffer with the number of minimum bytes at a time in an interval time when the print data are received by the receiving port set as the slave port by the setting means 35.
