PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make obtainable accurate date and hour without needing a battery for backing up a real time clock nor a dedicated time notifying device. SOLUTION: When power source is turned on, a printer 1a connected to a network 3 makes a broadcast packet flow into the network 3. When a response comes from the same type of printer 1b existing on the network, the printer 1a sends a command requesting the information of a real time clock to the printer 1b. The printer 1a receives the information of the real time clock from the printer 1b and sets the received time information to a real time clock 9.
