PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid missing a good opportunity to take a photograph while a menu image is displayed by allowing a controlling means that performs control so as to execute a photographing operation according to a set function item to perform control so as to start a photographing operation when a photographing instruction is outputted by a photographing instructing means in the state where the menu image is displayed on a displaying means. SOLUTION: A system controlling circuit 50 controls the entire photographing device 100 according to a program, constant and variable data, etc., stored in a memory 52. It further shows a menu image on a displaying part 54 in response to a menu button operation of an operating part 70 and selects a function item according to the menu image and performs control so as to function setting processing for setting. When a signal SW1 is outputted from a shutter switch 62 in the state in which the menu image is shown on the part 54, the part 20 performs control so as to start a photographing operation by ignoring the function item set according to the menu image just before the signal SW1 is issued.
