PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control engagement shock of a select lever when it is shifted from an N range or a P range to a D range or an R range without adding a new sensor and with a simple structure. SOLUTION: An engagement time counting part 22 calculates a variation rate of a primary rotational number. In addition, it starts counting an engagement completion time FRD2T1 of a frictional engagement element of a foreward/rearward changeover device from the time that a select lever is shifted from an N range or a P range to a D range or an R range, to the time that the primary rotational speed is abrubtly changed. A target engagement completion time FRD2TG is compared to the actual engagement completion time by means of an engagement pressure correction rate calculation part 23. According to the difference, a correction rate FRD2L of the engagement pressure in respect to the frictional engagement element is calculated such that the engagement completion time is equal to the target value. An initial value 24 of engagement pressure is calculated by correcting, while adopting the engagement pressure correction rate, a reference engagement pressure initial value PFRD calculated by an engagement pressure initial value calculation part 24 based on operation conditions.
