PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform recording having an optimal recording characteristic by obtaining optimal recording speed information even at a double recording speed, to which an optical disk is applied, in the information recorder of a recordable optical disk. SOLUTION: By reading ATIP(absolute time in preglove) information recorded in a CD-R disk (draw type optical disk), a corresponding recording speed is determined (S2), recording is carried out in a test area by optimal recording power for each recording speed (S4), an optimal recording speed is extracted from its recording characteristic (S5), and this is stored by a storing means. When a user sets a recording speed, the optimal recording speed information is read, and a recording operation is performed at this recording speed.
