PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a button display method without increasing a circuit size. SOLUTION: The count values of a lateral counter 111 and a longitudinal counter 112 in a display control circuit 11 indicate the dots in a button display region and a character display region. A button display circuit 12 issues an instruction to color dots, if the count values indicate the dots in the button display region. A coloring circuit 13 colors the character data from a character ROM 2 when the count value indicates the dots in the character display region. If the count value indicates the dots in the button display region, the dots are colored by the instruction from the circuit 12.
