PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pressure roller and a succeeding recording material from being soiled by fogging toner at the margin parts of both right and left end parts of a recording material. SOLUTION: A heating element 6 is printed on the lower surface of a base plate 8 and is covered with glass 7, so that a heater 3 is constituted. The pressure roller 4 is constituted by covering the outer peripheral surface of a core bar 4a with a roller-like elastic body 4b, and heat insulating fixing film 1 is pressed to the heater 3 by the pressure roller 4, so that a fixing nip part N is constituted between the pressure roller 4 and the fixing film 1. The recording material P carrying an unfixed toner image on a surface is heated by the heater 3 while holding and carrying by the fixing nip part N, so that a toner image is fixed on the surface of the recording material. The temperature of the elastic body 4b in a longitudinal direction is set so that the temperature of a part corresponding to the end part of the recording material is set the same as that of the part corresponding to the center part of the recording material by setting the end part of the heating element 6 of the heater 3 outside from the end part of the recording material P by a distance (a), so that a fixing performance at the end part of the recording material is made excellent.
