PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify circuit constitution for driving a laser diode without lowering performance related to a laser diode drive circuit and to reduce a cost of a product. SOLUTION: In the LD drive circuit of a device provided with an image forming area for forming an image and a position detective area for detecting a position of a laser beam in the main scan direction of the laser beam emitted from the LD 12, and requiring laser luminescent power different in respective areas, an APC circuit 44 controlling one laser luminescent power in the image forming area for one LD 12 and an image forming area laser drive circuit 51 driving the LD 12 in the image forming area by control of the APC circuit 44 are provided, and a position detective area laser drive circuit 50 driving the LD 12 in the position detective area and an OCP circuit 30 preventing the overcurrent of the LD 12 in the image forming area and the position detective area are provided.
