PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector wherein a sliding distance between the contact portion of a contact and the contact pattern of an IC card in mutually abutting and contacting condition is kept minimum for reducing the wear between both members and preventing poor contact with each other. SOLUTION: A contact 40 consists of a fixed portion 41, a connection 43 and a V-shaped arm 44, the V-shaped arm 44 having a first arm portion 46 extending from a base 45 and a second arm portion 47. The base 45 is abutted to a connector housing 32d and constrained from being displaced downward and the contact portion 48 at the end of a first arm portion is located under a card receiving space and the thrust portion 47a at the end of a second arm portion is located in the card receiving space. When an IC card 2 is inserted in the receiving space, the end 2a of the IC card is abutted to the thrust portion 47a in the receiving space to push it down and the V-shaped arm 44 is oscillated at its base 45 as fulcrum to push the contact portion 48 up so that it may be abutted and contacted to the contact pattern of the IC card 2.
