PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a defect called blister of defectives of a bottle drum part. SOLUTION: In this method, the image of the drum part of a bottle 2 is taken by a CCD camera 4 with the light transmitted by a light shielding plate 10 having a plurality of oblique clearances, and the resulting stripe pattern image is processed to detect a defect. This method comprises the step 1 of providing a binary image consisting of bright and dark stripe pattern within the window 8 of a screen 7; the step 2 of scanning the image of the step 1 in the vertical direction of the bottle to provide an image labeled every bright area of the stripe pattern and every dark area thereof; and the step 3 of scanning the image of the step 2 in the vertical direction of the bottle and judging the presence of a defect when a label not making contact with any of four edges of the window 8 appears, or when the appearance frequency of the same label exceeds a set number in a scanning line. |
