VIDEO DATA TRANSMITTER-RECEIVER AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video data transmitter-receiver that applies arithmetic series error protection for compressed video data according to its importance and transmits/receives the resulting data. SOLUTION: The video data transmitter-receiver compresses video data, attains arithmetic series error protection to the data by means of speed interchangeable punch convolution coding and transmits the resulting data through a communication channel. The video data transmitter-receiver is provided with a compression section 30 that identifies importance of the video data and generates area information divided by each area and that compresses the video data by each area according to the area information and outputs the compressed video data, and provided with a coding section 32 that codes the compressed video data according to a prescribed coding rule corresponding to the importance included in the area information by the speed interchangeable punching convolution coding method by each area and inserts a prescribed marker.
