PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a domain wall movement type magnetic domain enlarging magneto-optical recording medium in which the movement of a domain wall and the enlargement of a magnetic domain are smoothly performed by intercepting magnetostatic bond from a recording layer to a magnetic domain enlarging layer (domain wall moving layer). SOLUTION: An interference layer 16, a magnetic domain enlarging layer 1, an intermediate layer 2, a magnetic mask layer 3, a recording layer 4 and a protective layer 17 are successively formed on a substrate 15. The magnetic domain enlarging layer 1 has a smaller domain wall coercive force than the other magnetic layers 2, 3, 4. The intermediate layer 2 has a lower Curie temperature Tc2 than the other magnetic layers 1, 3, 4. The magnetic mask layer 3 is in a perpendicularly magnetized state at a temperature close to the temperature Tc2 and becomes an intrasurface magnetized state at a higher temperature. The recording layer 4 has a greater coercive force at room temperature than the magnetic domain enlarging layer 1.
