PURPOSE: A modem-mounted telephone is provided to mount a modem card, and to selectively perform a modem function and a telephone communication function. CONSTITUTION: A modem(16) performs modem communication through a telephone circuit(1). An RS-232C interface(17) connects the modem(16) with an outer equipment, and performs serial communication. A switching unit(18) selectively connects the modem(16) or transmitting/receiving signal processors(14,12) with the telephone circuit(1). A controller(22) is connected to the modem(16) and the telephone circuit(1) when the outer equipment attempts a modem calling, and controls the switching unit(18) to perform the modem communication. If a hook switch(20) is turned off while performing the modem communication, the controller(22) ignores a telephone communication request, and controls the switching unit(18) to maintain a connection state of the modem(16) and the telephone circuit(1).
