PURPOSE: An apparatus for converting a scan format of field basis and a method thereof are provided to convert the format by way of interpolated pixel method concerning both directions of vertical and horizontal. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for converting a scan format of field basis includes a locator(201), a checker(205), first and second allocators(203,211), and first and second pixel generators(207,213). The locator(201) locates pixels to be interpolated sequentially when an image signal of one field is applied. The first allocated(203) determines a first allocation including the pixel in the range of y+/-2. The checker checks second pixel generators(207,213). The checker(205) determines whether a horizontal direction of the first allocator(203) exists. The first pixel generator(207) generates the interpolated pixel value by averaging at least one pixel in an upper line and at least one in a lower line. The second allocator(211) determines a second allocation including the pixel in the range of y+/-2. The second pixel generators(213) generates the interpolated pixel value by averaging at least one pixel in an upper line and at least one in a lower line. |
