The method involves introducing a spatially extending phantom into the investigation region of the MRI device. A measurement gradient pulse (GM) with a given pulse width is switched on. After the measurement gradient pulse is switched off, at least two sequential image-giving sequence blocks are generated at spacings t1,t2,tn. A two- or more dimensional complex data set is produced from the image-giving signals of these blocks, whereby the phase information is proportional to the magnetic field strength.
