Production of high transparency, biodegradable cast film comprises extruding starch esters with 5-20 wt.% of plasticizers, forming a high-concentration solution, that is then heated to 292-361 K and pressure-molding at 4.8-20 m/min to give a film of thickness below 2 mu m. Production of high transparency, biodegradable cast film comprises: (i) extruding starch esters with 5-20 wt.% of the total of plasticizers; (ii) forming a high-concentration solution, that is then heated to 292-361 K with a temperature variation of at most 0.2 K, of the obtained granulate and 30-50 wt.% of the total plasticizer content of polyalkylene glycol and compensating for the reduction in viscosity by increasing the solids content by 16-28 wt.%; and (iii) pressure-molding at 4.8-20 m/min to give a film of thickness below 2 mu.
