PURPOSE: A cartridge suitable for a recording medium wherein information is recorded and reproduced by using a near field is provided. CONSTITUTION: A cartridge for recording/reproducing high density data comprises a recording medium; an optical path formation unit for forming an optical transmission path; a light collection unit for collecting on the recording medium a light transmitted via the optical transmission path, and guiding the light reflected from the recording medium to the optical path formation unit; a head unit for lifting the light collection unit within a minute distance from the recording medium; a head driving unit for transferring the head unit to a predetermined position of the recording medium; and a recording medium driving unit for rotating the recording medium. As a result, the cartridge minimizes an optical error generated due to foreign substances such as dust during the recording/reproducing operation, by protecting the recording medium from the ambient air.
