PURPOSE: An interface unit in a communication system for voice and wideband data services is provided to offer a communication system servicing voice and wideband data to subscribers and an interface device integrating communication networks providing voice, data and picture services. CONSTITUTION: A PNS(Private Network System) is comprised of a LAN interface(42), an xDSL(Digital Subscriber Line)(44), an ATM interface(46), a PDH(Plesiosynchronous Digital Hierarchy) interface(48), and control part(50). The LAN interface(42), connected to a LAN and a switching unit of the control part(50), transmits a cell, transmitted from a LAN terminal and converted by a hub(20), to another LAN or an ATM network. The xDSL(44), connected to an STB(Set-Top Box)(24) and the switching unit, makes a high-band VOD service provided to the STB(24). The ATM interface(46), connected to the ATM network and the switching unit, transmits and receives ATM cells with the ATM network. The PDH interface(48), connected to a trunk circuit(E1/T1)(32) and the switching part, converts a channel notion into a cell notion.
