<p>A latch needle comprises a hook (14), a stem (12) and a latch (16). The latch (16) is pivotally mounted (18) to the stem (12) for rotation between two positions in the first of which the latch (16) is located within the hook (14) and in the second of which the latch (16) is located external of the hook (14). The latch spoon (34) is notched at its tip to permit the latch (16) to pass either side of the point (15) of the hook (14). Control of the latch (16) is provided by an integral lug (28) which engages in the recess (44) of the slider (42) positioned along side the needle. Alternatively, the latch (52, Fig 9) is provided with two lugs (55, 56) which are controlled by respective central faces (64, 63) of an auxiliary sinker (62).</p> |
