PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for updating the data of a terminal station in a satellite communication system are provided to shorten a ROM fusing time by fusing only the modified data into the ROM, in case that the system data of a terminal station are to be modified. CONSTITUTION: A processor(51) controls the data update proces of a terminal station. An SCC(Service Channel Controller)(52) extracts packet information from a message inputted from an SCPC channel unit and generates an S-ALOHA packet. A dual port RAM(53) is provided for transmitting and receiving the data of the processor(51) and the SCC(52). A data memory(54) stores various data associated with each component's operation. A program memory(55) stores an operation program for the processor(51). An update data memory(56) stores the data to be updated and the address, size and contents of the data to be updated in the data memory(54). A counter(57) executes a counting operation according to a control signal. A ROM(58) stores the data identical to the data stored in the data memory(54).
